PROJECT CONTROL EFFORTS PRODUCE TIMELY DELIVERY
Overview
Located just 18 miles from Corpus Christi International Airport, the Navy Lodge houses military members and their families. Waterways and nature-inspired sites surround the lodge including the Mustang Island State Park, Padre Island National Seashore, Corpus Christi Beach, Oso Bay, and Red Dot Pier. The NAVFAC Engineering System Command employed Veliz Construction to replace the porte cochere of Navy Lodge Building 99. The requested construction services involved removing and replacing the exterior finishes and roofing material of the porte cochere which serves as a covered entryway for those checking in to the lodge.
Veliz Construction was expected to provide supervision, labor, and materials for the project and follow special regulations for a stormwater pollution prevention protection plan. This special regulation required Veliz Construction’s contractors to follow NAVFAC’s recommended environmental mitigation and protection practices to contain discarded materials and ensure the protection of the site’s storm drains from contamination. Veliz Construction engaged Peritia to partner as a scheduler per contract requirements shortly after winning the project bid. Our experts immediately incorporated themselves into the construction project.
Solution
Once they gained an intimate understanding of the project, our team developed a cost-loaded baseline schedule to build an accurate, comprehensive schedule to measure against throughout the course of the project. Each month followed with progress monitoring and update reports per NAVFAC requirements to ensure milestones were met. The Peritia team ensured cost line items on payment applications aligned with every schedule update and sent client feedback to verify the correct net amount. Through our combined efforts with Veliz Construction, the project was substantially complete in the fall of 2023.
