Manuel is a seasoned, professionally licensed engineer with over 20 years of experience in large and complex industrial projects across the globe. Manuel has a proven track record managing mega-projects, contract negotiations, dispute resolution processes, and proposal preparation in the petrochemical, oil & gas, power, manufacturing, and pharmaceutical/biotech sectors.
Manuel’s expertise spans all facets of the industry including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, owner’s representation, and consulting in both the private and government sectors. He is also experienced in various contracting strategies as well as self-perform project execution strategies.
Manuel started his career as a plant engineer for one of the largest chemical companies. He was first assigned to a $130 million greenfield pharmaceutical plant in Somerset, NJ, where he worked as a mechanical design engineer. From the office design works, Manuel followed the project to the field through to the completion of commissioning of the plant. He was then assigned to lead the mechanical efforts on a $1 billion greenfield biotech plant in Puerto Rico.
Since then, Manuel has led the development of dozens of large industrial projects and has organized and developed several project execution teams to execute those capital projects in over ten countries while integrating multi-cultural backgrounds. On the forensic side, Manuel has led efforts in all dispute resolution processes, including multiple international mediation and arbitration processes. He was responsible for the integration of in-house and outside counsels, third-party technical advisors and project teams’ efforts in defensive and offensive strategies. Manuel personally trained dozens of project staff in preparation for the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification’s examination. Aside from his technical responsibilities, Manuel has also developed financing and tax strategies alongside financial advisors to mitigate cost impacts on projects.
